2УТМ-4ЛTwo-Section Locomotive is intended for train operation with respect to movement of freight trains having up to 30 wagons with total weight of up to 2500 tons. The module can be operated at railroads with track gauge of 1435 mm and with rail type UIC-60 under conditions of dry tropical climate within the range of surrounding air temperatures from minus 10 °С up to plus 55 °С and altitude above sea-level not exceeding 1000 m. The module consists of two identical one-cabin sections, controlled from one cabin command post of any of the sections. As may be required, each section can be used as an independent hauling unit.
