Remputmash adopts the latest western know-how

Organizing the co-production of the latest Remputmash Group track equipment with the leading international manufacturer will allow Russian Railways OJSC to avoid high-priced export procurement.

In 2010 Russian Railways OJSC may obtain the first track equipment, co-produced by a French company Geismar and Remputmash group. «The outcome of the cooperation must be the procurement of new machinery and samples of maintenance vehicles,» announced Vladimir Yakunin, the President of Russian Railways OJSC, when giving a speech at Russian-French business forum in Paris on Tuesday.

«Cooperation with Geismar takes part within the program on increasing the cooperation with leading international manufacturers. Without any doubt, that is lucrative to our corporate group, and, on the whole, to Russian Railways. Remputmash gets access to the latest know-how and Russian Railways OJSC gets an opportunity to constantly obtain high-performing technology, without resorting to export procurement,» announced Semyon Mlodik, Director General of Remputmash Corporate Group.

According to his words, the Corporate Group undertakes the preparation of components and units, and also the manufacturing itself, while Geismar will supply innovational technologies. «The manufacturing of new technology will be carried out at already existing facilities of our plant in Kaluga and will not demand updating,» emphasized Semyon Mlodik.

According to his words, in 2009 small tools and equipment, produced in cooperation with Geismar, at the approximate price of 100 mln rubles were supplied to Russian Railways OJSC. This year it is expected that the volume will be considerably enlarged, but it is too early to talk about numbers — currently the terms of contracts are being negotiated.

In the meanwhile, the project on track machine manufacturing must be carried out in the near future. As Sergey Vorobyov, Head of Railway and Facilities Mechanization Department of Russian Railways OJSC, told the Gudok — issues connected with obtaining from the Kaluga plant the track machines, designed using French technology, are being worked on now. Firstly, it is referred to PEM/LEM structures. This is high-performing technology, which allows making railway reparation with «windows» at minimal time-length.

Sergey Vorobyov emphasized, that all the technology, designed with the participation of Geismar, can be used when working at infrastructure for high-speed running.
