Purpose: Locomotive UTM-3 is a shunting-clean up locomotive of rating 1800 kW with AC-DC electrical transmission, eight-wheel vehicle, with design speed 100 km/hr; it is designed for executing all types of train and shunting-clean up operations on main, station and technological tracks of Russian Railways at all the climatic zones.
Use of locomotive UTM-3 for shunting-clean up operations on carriage of trains with economic trains, hopper-batcher, with weeds during works of ballast and trough clean up complexes shall free locomotives for operating train freight carriages.
